It is hard to believe that it has been 15 years since our founder, Hanley Denning, passed away unexpectedly in a car accident. Shortly after that tragic event, we began celebrating Hope in Action on her birthday, as a way to both honor and celebrate her life. We have also used it as a time to focus on what actions we can take to further our mission and carry on Hanley’s legacy. We have made great strides in these endeavors but we still, as Hanley put it, “have work to do.”

Check out the video below to hear a former volunteer, and adoptee from Guatemala, discuss how he has seen Safe Passage transform from humble beginnings into what it is today, as well as his thoughts on the future.

“The one thing I’ve learned is that it takes so little to make such a big difference to these kids.” – Hanley Denning
