77% of every dollar raised directly impacts a child in the Guatemala City garbage dump community. Your donations give hope, education and opportunity to our students and keep our school thriving.
Your donation to our COVID-19 Relief fund supports:
- Food: Safe Passage/Camino Seguro, Rotary clubs from across the United States and Guatemala have been collaborating with volunteers within our staff to distribute aid bags that include necessary food and hygiene supplies. Collaborative efforts with municipal services and our staff also ensure safe water for our students and families.
- Emergency funding: Support for emergency needs including additional nutrition through food donations and vouchers to local markets, telemedicine, homeschooling resources to keep our students on track with the most basic educational programming. Of those who have access to the internet through their phones, academic curriculum is being designed. Older students are now gaining access to local internet restaurants who may serve 10 people or less at any given moment.
- Ongoing preparation in Expeditionary Learning (EL). Teachers are continuing their work as educators through the design of remote learning and continuing development of the innovative EL curriculum for current classes and for readiness when the quarantine is lifted, including medical, emotional and curricular needs to continue our holistic approach serving the whole child.
