Safe Passage's U.S. office is located in Yarmouth, Maine, and the Guatemala office is located in Antigua, Guatemala. Safe Passage's Board of Directors is comprised of individuals from the United States and Guatemala.
Todd Amani, Executive Director. Todd brings a distinguished career as a leader in the USAID organization to Safe Passage. Todd held leadership positions with USAID in Guatemala and Mozambique and was the School Board President of the Colegio Maya in Guatemala. Learn more about Todd.
Vinicio Chavez, Social Development Program Director. Vinicio has been at Safe Passage since the early days, working closely with Hanley Denning and supporting every student that passes through our doors.
Rosario Garzaro, Guatemala Development and Outreach Coordinator. A poised and competent team builder, Rosario has 10 years of progressive experience related to the planning and execution of events and projects. Well-versed in developing internal and external communication strategies through leadership projects (especially fundraising projects), Rosario is passionate about building productive relationships with the most important circles of influence and interest of the institutions she has worked with.
Mariella de López, Administrative Director. Mariella has worked for Safe Passage for many years and was formerly as adviser to Guatemala's First Lady, Wendy de Berger.
Marc Wuthrich, Finance and Human Resources Director. Marc is from Switzerland and began his work with Safe Passage as an accounting assistant before moving in January 2008 to his current director's role.
Matthew Wolcott, Director of Development. Matt has been in development for nearly a decade including most recently with a small independent school in New Hampshire which successfully completed a $47 million campaign in 2013. Prior to that, Matt spent seven years leading the annual fund at a national conservation organization. He began his career working in marketing and communications for a Fortune 1000 company near Boston. Outside of work, Matt spends his time chasing his three young children.
Karen Bolmer, Development Assistant & Grant Officer. Karen first became a supporter of Safe Passage in 2003, traveling to Guatemala in 2005 as part of a support team. She joined the US office team in 2008.
Barbara Davis, Comptroller & US Office Manager. Barbara has been with Safe Passage since 2003, and moved to her current role as Comptroller in 2009. Barbara has a degree in Business Administration and has extensive experience in accounting, finance, programming, and office management in both the public and private sector.
Rachel Katyl, Associate Director of Development. Rachel brings extensive field experience having lived and worked in Bolivia, Costa Rica, and Guatemala. Passionate about Latin America, social justice, and empowering others, Rachel holds a master's degree in International Community Development. She joined the Safe Passage team in 2013.
Nancy Thompson, Database & Capital Campaign Coordinator. Nancy joined the Safe Passage team in 2014. She brings passion for fundraising and over 30 years of experience. Nancy finds it especially rewarding to see the direct impact Safe Passage supporters have on the lives of so many children.
Danielle Chrobak, Communications Coordinator. Danielle specializes in website management, social engagement, and organizational branding. She brings passion for effective communication and strong outreach experience. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Danielle is proud to call the Pine Tree State her home for the past five years.
Mariah Healy, US Sponsorship & Outreach Coordinator. Mariah, a Maine native, brings extensive experience as an advocate for children living at social risk in Latin America. Inspired by her experience volunteering with Safe Passage in 2007, she went on to work with children in the most at-risk neighborhoods of Santiago, Chile, where she lived for six years. Mariah brings strong leadership and communication skills and a passion for Safe Passage's mission. She joined the US office team in 2015.
