Since the start of the academic year in late January, 29 families from around the world have traveled to spend time with their sponsored students. What does a typical visit look like? Sponsors meet our students and can spend time helping out in their sponsor child's classroom. Our team also arranges an outing – to a local restaurant, the zoo, or the children's museum – so the student and sponsor can get to know one another while enjoying a special afternoon outside of the project. A staff member who knows the child will be there the entire time to help with translation and make sure that everyone is enjoying the experience.

Cindy Mendez Ruiz, our Sponsorship Coordinator, says visits are a unique part of sponsorship with Safe Passage, and that the personal relationships they foster can give a student the extra motivation he or she needs to stay in school.
