Teams are made up of 8-12 people and volunteer with Safe Passage for one week in Guatemala. There are three main team categories: Support Team, Service Team and Partnership Team. Safe Passage’s Team Coordinators, Lisa Jensen and Stephanie Glad will help your team confirm a time to volunteer with Safe Passage, provide you with a budget, itinerary and encouragement as you embark on a life changing experience!
SUPPORT TEAMS: A Support Team is designed with the first time visitor in mind. The week with a Support Team offers the opportunity of a hand’s on experience to share what Safe Passage is all about. It enables the Team to learn about the history of Safe Passage, the present goals, and the many different ways they can participate and be involved in Safe Passage’s future. Through direct contact with the children, and developing a project to benefit Safe Passage’s children the beginning of long lasting relationship will transpire. During the Team’s experience in Guatemala, there will also be time for exploring the Guatemalan culture. (595.00 in country cost per person, excludes airfare) (Suggested donation of 2,500.00 per team or 200.00 per person)
SERVICE TEAMS: A Service Team is a Team that provides a clearly defined, self-designed service to Safe Passage. These teams are often educated about the program’s needs and may be working with a specific department to fulfill a particular need but can also be first time visitors with expertise or a service to offer the program. Examples of service teams are: Shared Beat (medical), Lacrosse, Circus training. Scheduling for this week depends on the Teams’ choice of service. Safe Passage’s Team department will help design the service team’s itinerary based on the service they will be providing. (595.00 per week plus airfare, per person unless the Team is responsible for making their own arrangements)
PARTNERSHIP TEAMS: Partnership Teams are made up of ongoing supporters, rotary members, friend’s groups, corporate partners or a group of people coming to further investigate the needs of Safe Passage for potential funding opportunities. The week would include extensive tours and meetings with department heads and one to two full days volunteering in the project. Partner teams are not responsible to develop a project to lead with our children. Additional coordination for meetings, events, or leisure activities during the week may be necessary such as with Rotarian teams, Lacrosse teams, or medical teams. (Pricing is subject to itinerary).
