North Carolina Friends Group
About Us
We are a group that has been organized for about 9 years. There is a core group of about 15 people that participate in our yearly fundraisers and meet regularly while planning the events. These events have grown over the years and have involved different approaches. The most dedicated members of the group seem to be those who have been to Safe Passage from one to many times.

Our second annual Esperanza 5k will take place on October 15, 2011
Past Events
We began with a small outdoor event with live music and food. Over the first few years we continued that venue, but on a larger scale. We eventually moved to the local arts center with a silent auction and more upscale musical groups, lots of delicious food and a greatly increased attendance. We also began to include raffles in these events for trips for two to Safe Passage, which were very successful. In 2009 we hosted a Marta Gomez event, which was very successful. Last year was our first Esperanza 5k, which went very well, raising about $10,000.
