Guatemalan Headquarters

Meet our management team in Guatemala. They are committed, passionate and working hard to bring the greatest opportunities to our children:
Ed Mahoney, from the US,
and known by most of you, was introduced to Safe Passage while on a trip to Guatemala over
six years ago. Ed was in charge as the Finance Director until
recently when he was appointed as our new Director of Operations. Ed
has been with Safe Passage for years and his experience and expertise are of
tremendous value in his new role where he is in charge of many areas, such as
transport, security, warehouse and construction!
Marc Wuthrich, from Switzerland,
began his work at Safe Passage as Ed’s assistant and in January was
promoted to Financial Director. This week Marc is in Maine, working with
Barbara Davis (US Office Administrator) and our auditors to smoothly transition
to a new program of accounting software. Marc will be attending the 5k
road race this Saturday and looks forward to meeting our supporters!
Dorien Claessen, from Holland,
founder of La Luna and long term volunteer for Safe Passage, was hired as
the new Director of Social Development. Under her guidance this
recently integrated department is making positive strides every
day. The implementation of the Peace Program and the re-structuring of
our monthly meetings are some of her first successes.
Evelin Arreaga, from Guatemala,
Director of Human Resources, has worked with Safe Passage for many years
now. Thanks to the Evelin Safe Passage is well organized and
she is always available to help other departments.
Thelma de Ubeda, from Guatemala,
Director of the Reinforcement
Center is committed to
keeping a safe and loving environment for the children to learn. One
of her goals this year is to increase the participation of the parents and
family members through different activities and collaboration to ensure the
success of the children at Safe Passage.
Margarita Campos, from Guatemala, was promoted to Director of the Early Childhood Center in the fall and is responsible for the well-being of sixty five 2-4 year olds. Margarita is full of warmth and caring which is felt all throughout the center!
Emily Wolfe, from the US, volunteered with Safe Passage in the past and joined the program in January as the Director of Public Relations. Emily has worked on many different areas already, and looks forward to building the fundraising efforts in Guatemala.
