Vocational Training
While education is the primary focus of Safe Passage, in recent years we have added several vocational training programs to provide the children with a wide range of skills and options to become self-sufficient individuals. Currently, Safe Passage offers the following programs:
Computers: USAID outfitted our computer lab with 13 new computers and a learning curriculum for our children. Our children now have the opportunity to learn basic computer skills and computer programs. Computer proficiency will give our children a great advantage in the job market!
Posada Lazos Fuertes - Guest Inn and Hotel Training Program: In 2005, with help from a foundation in Maine, Safe Passage leased, equipped, and opened a small hotel in Antigua to serve as an income-generating component and hospitality training center for older children in Safe Passage. A year into operations, the 15-room hotel is now breaking even, has a terrific staff, and will soon launch its training program. The hotel caters to international travelers as well as visitors to the Safe Passage project. Visit the website: http://www.posadalazosfuertes.com/
