An important component of Safe Passage is its Social Service program. Currently, Safe Passage has a social work team that works diligently to ensure that each child receives the support needed to remain and succeed in school. The social workers work directly with twelve Guatemalan public schools as liaisons to our program. Through daily meetings and home visits our social workers monitor every child who is attending Safe Passage and his/her public school. They serve as an important link between the child, his/her family, the community, the child’s public school and Safe Passage. In addition, they provide case management services to every child and his/her family. They may assist with medical and legal matters or offer support surrounding issues of neglect, physical abuse or substance abuse.

The Social Services program represents a critical link to the children and their families. Safe Passage is committed to working with every child in a comprehensive manner while strengthening family and community partnerships. The Safe Passage social work team works to make sure that every child is healthy, safe and on their way towards self sufficiency.
