Since its inception in 1999, Safe Passage has turned the dream of an education into a reality for more than 550 children through an intensive school support program.

Many of the children attending Safe Passage are the first in their family to attend school; they often need the extra encouragement, guidance, and support to continue their studies and reach their goals.

In Guatemala, the children attend their public school half day. The children in our program attend Safe Passage’s Educational and Reinforcement Center for the other half of the day. In our program, each child attends a classroom that corresponds to their grade level in the public school.

With the support of our own committed Guatemalan teachers and volunteers from around the world, each child receives additional tutoring and assistance with their homework, as well as the opportunity to take part in fun, creative activities designed to reinforce their knowledge and skills. We are committed to nurturing each child’s abilities and showing them their potential!

Safe Passage provides educational reinforcement and extracurricular activities and training to children ages six to nineteen. It also provides an accelerated learning program for youth that are beginning school at the age of twelve to fourteen. Through an aggressive learning approach, these children are able to pass two grades in one year.
